Trails-Drakes Brook Trail and Sandwich Mtn Trail

Equipment needed: Micro spikes and snowshoes. Please use snowshoes!

Started the hike on the Drakes Brook Trail, Drakes Brook is 90% snow bridged on this trail and easy to cross. Started in micro spikes but within an hour switch to snowshoes when snow started to get soft and post holed a couple of times. Easy going to Sandwich Mtn trail with many blow downs. Be careful of the turn near the Smart Brook Trail, many different shoes tracks around this area, I put a small barrier at the turn. Beautiful clear sky today with great views from Sandwich Dome. Both Sandwich Mtn Trail and Drakes Brook trail are covered in blow downs. All fairly easy to walk around or under. Lots of work to be done on both these trails once the snow smelts. Drakes Brook on the Sandwich Mtn. Trail is only 50% snow bridged and I opted to do the short bushwhack to the highway and cross on the bridge. Great hike and warm day for an official winter hike.
