Sandwich Dome - 4/27/12
Trails: Sandwich Mt. Trail for the ascent; Drakes Brook Trail for the descent.
Conditions: Muddy in spots and wet... water-proof boots are in order. It snowed today, so there is trace snow at higher elevations. The mono-rail is gone, with only a few, tiny pockets of ice in between rocks on the last 1/2 mile or so.
Water: Drake Brook is running a tiny bit high. To access the Sandwich Mt. Trail, I crossed the brook along the bridge on Rt. 49, then followed the herd path along the opposite bank up to the trail. At the brook crossing along the lower portion of Drakes Brook Trail, it is rock hop-able about 30' upstream from where the trail blazes suggest you cross the river.
