Date of Hike: 6/11/08
Trail Conditions: Trail recently maintained, drainages clean, no blowdowns, footing excellent most of the way. A few muddy spots low down (one with Adirondack quality mud, almost stole my boot ), very wet for a few tenths of a mile around the crossing of Smart's Brook. This is unrelated to yesterday's rain; these areas are always wet.
Special Equipment Required: Waterproof boots, DEET.
Comments: A delightful trail, 5.7 miles each way with 3,100 feet of elevation gain. There is a short very steep section just below the ridge: the trail makes a long and easy switchback most of the way to the ridge, then suddenly decides to go straight up the fall line.
