Trails: Up Sandwich Mt Trail including spur to Jennings Peak. Descend via Sandwich Mt to Drakes Brook.
Date of Hike: Sunday 8/17/08
Trail Conditions: Wet & slimy, some mud. Drakes Brook Crossing on Sandwich Mt Trail tricky but the crossing on Drakes Brook Trail was easy.
Special Equipment Required: Poles for stream crossings and sandles if you're hesitant about rock-hopping.
Comments: Climb to the ridge crest seemed longer than the trail guide because of the slime on rocks and roots. Lots of PUDs on the ridge, but good views. Descending via Drakes Brook is faster due to easy grades and it's a knee saver. Jennings has the better views. Bugs were not bad at all. Thanks to the two guys who gave us information about conditions on Drakes Brook Trail; thanks, we really enjoyed that trail.
