Nice hike despite a rainy start. Chose this hike because it was sheltered. Even so, the wind was taking trees down--quite strong when it gusted.

Trail conditions: Wet and mucky lower down, for probably the first 3 miles of the trail.

Past the Sandwich wilderness marker you'll start to see snow, but as of today only a few inches and the last miles up to the summit. Many small stream crossings, but all easy and doable.

Special equipment: Besides warm winter clothes no, special equip needed yet. Snowshoes would have been overkill today and the snow was soft enough that no other traction (eg microspikes) were called for. Poles were nice for the muck and for the snowy parts.

Shout out hello to Uncle and Nephew I met on the trail....happy hiking!
