Did Sandwich from the east today, though finding the trailhead was somewhat challenging. We decided to ascend via the Gleason Trail since it is the shorter and steeper of the two. It's also more in need of trailwork with lots and lots of blowdowns; unfortunately I had neglected to bring my folding saw. Descent via the Bennett Street Trail was quite pleasant: moderate grade, nicely maintained, and (in the lower section) with nice views of Pond Brook including a pleasant waterfall.
Good views of Jennings Peak, Tecumseh, Osceolas, Franc Ridge, Carrigain and the Tripyramids. Lots and lots of big dragonflies at the summit. One alit on my map and sat there patiently while I inspected it; impressive.
