Trail Conditions: Lake road is it's typical snowmobile highway. The trail up from the Dam starts out with about 4 inches of new snow. Gets progressivley deeper as you gain elevation. By about 3200' you can no longer make out the trail. From the Gothics Sawteeth col up, the snow was breaking off in large slabs as I stepped on it. Snow depth ranged from knee-high to hip-high. Snow is heavy and pretty unstable. Made for some difficult trail-breaking.
Special equipment: Snowshoes, long ones or tails would be helpful. Poles were nearly useless given the snow depth. Needed sunglasses today. It was a spectacularly sunny day with simply awesome views!
