It's been a few years since I drove to the Signal Ridge Trailhead on Sawyer River Rd. Because I'm considering hiking from Lincoln Woods to climb Carrigain via the Wilderness and Desolation Trails, and then down by the Signal Ridge Trail and Sawyer River Rd, I'm wondering if there is a store or anyplace that might have a public telephone nearby the intersection of Sawyer River Rd and Route 302 so I can call for a ride.

I'm not expecting cell phone reception in that spot but I could be wrong.

There's nothing close-by. I think you would have to go into Bartlett to find anything open.

However, you might get cell service a little way up Sawyer River Road where you have a bit more elevation.

I have Verizon and have successfully made calls from the lot at the intersection of 302 and Sawyer River Road. Heading left (west) on 302, there is a campground a few miles from SRR. Not sure when they open for the season, however. There is also the Notchland Inn across 302 from the Davis Path. They may have a phone you can use.

As PSmart notes, Bartlett is also an option in the other direction. But keep in mind that the Bear Notch Deli no longer exists. There are a couple of inns in that area but not much else in "downtown" Bartlett.
