Subject: Second Quabbin to Cardigan Trail Meeting - Thurs, April 12 in New London
To: Dear Trail Enthusiast,
You are invited to join us on Thursday, April 12, from 6 - 8 pm in
New London, NH, to explore the idea of a Quabbin to Cardigan trail.
Colby-Sawyer College will be hosting the second of three meetings of organizations and citizens interested in a possible long-distance hiking “Quabbin-to-Cardigan” trail in western New Hampshire from the Massachusetts/New Hampshire border to Mt. Cardigan and beyond to the White Mountains.
The meeting is a key part of a trail study being managed by the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests (SPNHF) and the Appalachian Mountain Club, with assistance from the National Park Service’s Rivers, Trails & Conservation Assistance program. The goal of the study is to take a first look at the feasibility of, and local interest in, a long-distance trail in the region. The study is NOT aimed at creating any new federal or state designation of trails in the area.
At the meeting, you will have an opportunity to view maps of the area, speak with representatives of a wide range of organizations and other citizens of the communities in central and southwest New Hampshire about potential trail routes, loops, and connections to other area trail systems, and to get answers to any questions regarding the trail study.
The first meeting of this project was held in Canaan, NH, on March 29, and there will be a similar meeting held in Keene on 5/2.The information provided at the three meetings will help determine the next steps in the trail study.
Everyone is welcome to attend one, two or all three meetings.
Please join us on Thursday, April 12th from
6:00 to 8:00 pm and spread the word among others who may be
interested.. Directions are below. Light refreshments will be
provided.
Please RSVP to me at [email protected] or 802-457-3368 x14 or [email protected] by Wednesday, April 11th.
