Hiked in via Calkins Brook herd path. Trail from Corey's to herd path dry and in good condition the whole way. Calkins path very good except for a couple muddy spots, one in particular. Gets a little more messy near the top. Herd path up top very good with one mud hole just south of Seward summit, plus a fair amount of mud south of Donaldson summit, before you drop down to the west ridge out to Emmons. Gaiters recommended, but you could get away without them. They also helped protect legs from getting scratched up in close sections.
