Our group of ten took advantage of the summer trail head being accessible and did these three peaks. We left the two cars at the bridge and car pooled using three four wheel drive trucks. I would not advise trying to bring a car to the summer lot.
A temp of -4 starting out, better than forecast, with a high of ten. We took the Calkins Brook herd path finding about six inches of new snow. The path to Seward was tricky to follow in a few spots but mostly it went very well. The path was wind blown and all signs of last week's hikers were gone. There was a noticeable snow shoe path from Donaldson to Emmons. The hike took just under 12 hours which was a good time for a large group.
Snow shoes were used all day, and head lamps used for the last 1/2 hour.
I have vivid memories of my last winter trip to the Sewards before the road was plowed and the many extra hours hiking in the dark. It felt like cheating this time but I'm not complaining.
