The road/snowmobile trail is still gated so I walked up the road over the headwaters of the Waits River and on up to 2300' before heading into the woods at a small dug into area on the left. The area was pretty thick with small maple and beech saplings, until it begun to get very steep with small cliffs and boulders. After getting through that area it became less steep and fewer saplings at about 2900 feet. From there it was an easy walk to the summit. On the way down I stayed a little more to the west and came down exactly where the road turned sharply to the Northeast, just above the bridge over the Waits River. A much easier route. No blackflies and very little snow.
