Last week in Bar Harbor I was fortunate to have good weather for sunrises and sunsets. I even managed to have a chance to do another silhouette shot as I watched others waiting for the sunrise on Cadillac Mtn. Moments later I was treated to their view.

Sunset on Saturday was a view from the 4 masted schooner Margaret Todd.

A heavy fog blew in after our cruise and settled in for the evening. The next morning at 5:00 I could barely see 100 yards. I again headed for Cadillac Mtn to see if I could get above the ground fog. The ground fog turned out to be 1500 feet thick. The view was still impressive.

Comments are welcome.

Well, predictably perhaps, here goes.

1) On the silhouette shot, try some cropping, first off the bottom (only) and then the top (only), and reflect on the different impressions thus created.

2) The second photo (“their view”) is wonderful, as-is. Bravo!

3) The third (“sunset”) is nicely cropped! Dramatic and beautiful.

4) The fourth photo (“the view”) is the least successful of the bunch. This strikes me as a photo that could use (a) more detail and texture brought up in the foreground, and (b) possibly a human figure to bring it life. Also, experiment with cropping (I’m not sure the sky above the pink fog bank adds much to the scene).

You’ve shared some very nice shots with us. Brightened up my morning, for sure. Thanks.

Thanks, G. I knew I could depend on you. I kind of figured that the large black area in photo 1 would be a target for the crop, crop, crop. I 've played with the top and bottom crops but am still not happy with the overall balance. Perhaps a bit off the sides.
Photo 4 was difficult to figure out what to do with it. Webshots tends to darken the shots more than on my monitors so I'll try posting it elsewhere. I have another shot with better foreground detail but less orange clouds. I'll work your suggestions into my next edits.
