Busy day on the trials. Never seen so many cars over-filling the Allen parking area (anything of note going on? Have the bridges washed out by Irene been replaced?). We ascended from Tohowus to Flowed Lands. The trail was well-broken and packed. I skied up and across FL to the lean-to at the northwest end. We snow-shoed up the Opalescent River encountering numerous other parties going up and coming down. This trail is therefore well packed too as are the paths up Marcy and Skylight from Four Corners. Two brave souls hunted for the herd path up Gray but retreated w/out success. No other gear other than snow-shoes is required (bare-booting and microspiking will subject you to a fine and a ticket by the back-woods Rangers who are out, so don't do it). Well done Lloyd and Usher (30th winter peak).
