Cold day but sunny. Hiked with friend Matt along the Lambert Ridge Trail to the summit of Smarts and back. A few inches of snow at the parking lot became 6-8 at the summit. The wind picked up as we passed the Ranger Trail. Saw only one other person all day. Snowshoes and poles were essential. Lunched at the Cabin and then headed out. Coming down the steep sections tested our balance, I failed several times.
