We got a late start, hitting the west end of the DP at 10:00 AM, heading up to North Dome. We left the trail well before the col, and Laurie shot a perfect line to the top, I think we only saw one ledge all day! Near the top, we met up with the tracks of 2 guys doing ND and SH. They had signed in before us and probably went up from the col. We decided to follow their tracks the rest of the way to the top, figuring at least we would get less snow down our backs. Let's just say that it's a good thing their tracks will be obliterated soon! They wandered around the summit cone for quite a while but they did find the can.
Having done Sherrill just a few days ago, we took a quick break and headed back down. The descent was QUICK! We were back at the stream in less than an hour and at the car in less than 90 minutes. Again, the track we made was sheer bushwhacking perfection! Way to go Laurie!
There were a few flurries on the hike, but nothing that we could call a blizzard. However, as we drove home, the wind and snowfall picked up quite a bit. I'm glad we got home when we did, as the plows and sanders were coming out to start what I assume will be a long night of work!
Santa got me a Soft Shell for Christmas too! More about that later!
