trails: logging roads, herdpaths

conditions: from eustis we drove in on tim pond road to wiggle brook road then left onto a road marked "22" to where it turned to grass just past a logging landing. roads were in good shape and would be passable in a standard passenger car. from there we headed up the grassy old road which was quite wet bearing left at the first junction then going straight across the next which was marked with a cairn and wooden arrow. we followed this road the went left across a small brook on another road before following a herd path into the woods. this herd path was on and off and eventually felt more like a bushwack. soon we came across the herd path proper which we followed to the summit. on the descent we followed the herd path until rejoining our earlier route on the lower road. the summit is marked with sign and canister. overall the navigation was straight forward, but be prepared to navigate as there is no guarantee you will immediately find the herd path to the summit.

equipment: navigational tools of choice.

comments: first of three planned hikes for the day. pretty wet in the woods, but quick to the summit despite poking around before getting on the herd path. great recent info. online from damselfly and big earl greatly appreciated.
