First snow fall at Heart Lake today!

Hikers have reported 4 to 6 inches of snow above 3500 feet. Traction for your feet (Stabilicers or Micro-spikes) are recommended this weekend if you are climbing the High Peaks.

4" on Algonquin and all sorts of ice with a few hundred people. It was an absolute zoo today with a full parking lot plus 100+ cars in overflow.

Not more than 1 inch on Phelps today. But very icy in several places and Hillsound or Microspike was very usefull.
Today was Fall Trailwork day 2012 the 3 parking was full and I never saw so many cars parked on the ADK road.

A lot of ice covered rocks on Lower Wolfjaw, put screws in my boot souls. Very hazardous condtitions. Cold, clear blue sky (very pretty) and no wind.
