) Decided to head up to Clarks Hill Lake about 30 minutes north of Augusta and ride Bartram Trail. Clarks Hill, also known as Lake Thurman,is a beautiful lake and is the largest man made lake east of the Mississippi. It is about 40 miles long with many off shoots that go back many miles. More than 90% of the lake is forested with the other 10% used for GA and SC state parks, County parks, Corp. of Eng. recreation areas and some private homes.
Bartram Trail currently is a 9.5 mile trail, soon to be another 9, the hugs the southern shore. Many fine views of the lake. i rode from petersburg campground to Lake Springs. There are 4 other trails along the lake, Mistletoe State park and Keg Creek on the GA side and Hickory Knob and Bakers Creek on the SC side.
