Route: 19 Mile Brook Trail to Carter Dome Trail to Carter-Moriah Trail, over South Carter to Middle Carter -- and then back.
Conditions: Our AMC/NH group encountered packed or loosely packed conditions along the entire route -- and all the more packed once we'd ben through. Two members of our group reported having visited Carter Dome the prior day (12/31), and encountering similar trail conditions there (Zeta to summit via Hight bypass).
Special Equipment: We went with snowshoes from top to bottom. Face protection was handy on the exposed 0.2 mile stretch south of Middle Carter's summit cone.
Great day, with excellent afternoon lighting of the Carter ridge set against the Presi's. There was some wind, but nothing like the 90mph winds that were blowing across the street where we had planned to hike originally (this was Plan B).
