Trail conditions:Mostly dry..some run off on ledges..Brief stretches of old monorail easily avoidable..short section of consolidated snow in the narrow col between the 2 summits..A couple of walk around blowdowns
Special Equipment: windy and cold on top so we all bundled up..a few brief snow flurries..poles a help..traction devices stayed in the pack
Comments.. My first time up the trail from the "new" parking area..really a lovely stretch through the woods with a fine wooden bridge over the only brook crossing worth noting. A few wildflowers here and there, a patch or 2 of snow off in the shadows but this trail to South Moat now counts as "snow free"..The Whites above 3500 feet or so had a fresh coating of snow from yesterdays storm..Northern Presis socked in clouds but the views were still excellent..this was an excellent AMC hike with Herb and Ellen Kingsbury
