trails: baldface circle trail

conditions: a mix of dry and wet trail all the way around. pretty dry on the south branch of the loop including the ledges which only had a couple of wet sections that necessitated caution. some wet spots along the ridge then fairly wet at times on the north branch of the loop once below the treeline with some slippery ledge up high. water crossings were all rock hoppable though the crossing of charles brook necessitated stepping in water in order to cross at the trail junction. there is a large tree down some were shimmying across as well. i removed a number of blowdowns, but a half dozen or so large stepovers remain on the north branch of the circle trail along with one in a sag on the ridge. black flies were getting pesty on the way down.

equipment: nothing in particular.

comments: i'm slighly ashamed to say that this was my first time hiking the baldfaces after a number of years hiking in the whites. i definitely picked a great day for a first trip as the views were fantastic with a nice mix of clouds and sun and cool temps. i was really impressed with how awesome these peaks are. great to be out.
