Trails: Nineteen-Mile Brook, Carter Dome, Carter-Moriah.
Conditions: Excellent and dry throughout. One small blowdown on Carter Dome and another on Carter-Moriah, both easily hopped over.
Comment: My route was the classic Carter Dome loop with a spur over to South Carter. When deciding on this loop the main decision is whether to go up or down the big wall out of Carter Notch; I opted for down because the rocks were dry and because climbing up Carter Dome via Zeta Pass is so pleasant.
Both peaks (and Mt. Hight) were in the clouds, so views from the top were negligible, but the scenery opened up beautifully at the top of the Carter Notch wall. Saw a total 19 people -- a smallish crowd for such a nice weekend hiking day. Covered the 11.5-mile loop in six hours.
