Date of Hike: 06/29/13
Trail Conditions: up and down were two distinctly different hikes, due to the Biblical deluge in between! There are about a dozen little stream crossings, which were quick, easy rock hops on the way up and knee deep, roiling wades on the return. Also a few spots where on the way down the trail had turned into a stream for 20-30 yards at a time or was just underwater. And some of the bog bridges up be Harrington Pond are submerged. I was thrilled to be wearing mesh runners instead of so-called waterproof boots!
Comments: When there's no thunder and lightning it would be great to leave a bike at the bottom of the Mount Kinsman Trail, and make a loop out of it. I think up Reel Brook and Dow Kinsman would be the best wa to do it. Passing under the power lines in the notch is a interesting experience, and makes me really, really hope that the Northern Pass doesn't.
