Please, I am hoping someone can inform me as to the current snow pack in the Mt. Kearsarge/Sunapee/Ragged area. Also Monadnock and the Wapack Trail region.

i.e. at roughly what elevation does the snow begin, and how deep is it near the tops of the peaks?

Thank you.

Sometimes the gate at Rollins State Park in Warner on Mt. Kearsarge is open his time of year. The road continues from there 3.8 miles to the parking lot, then another .5 mile to the top. It may or may not be passable at this point, but it might be an easy way to check on the snow cover. I can tell you that the snow in the Kearsarge area valleys is nearly gone at this point.

I'll be passing through the Warner area tomorrow morning. If I have time I'll swing by the state park and go up the road as far as I can and have a look for you. I've been meaing to drop by there for a while anyway.

I live just a few miles from Monadnock and the snow in the woods near my home range from nothing to 8" of wet stuff.

There is NO snow in the concord area through Warner, NH. Supposed to be near 70 Degrees thursday. Expect bare woods this weekend for sure.

Monadnock Conditions

Just hiked Monadnock this morning, lots of mud heading up the white dot until you hit the trail junction. then it's mostly rocks with patches of snow in the low sheltered areas. Bare botted all the way. Spring is hear and summer is far off. ;)

is the summit of monadnock still covered in snow? it looks like it still has some snow from here in vt, but it may just be a deception.

From my house it only appears that Monadnock only has "patches" of snow above tree line. Since my mudbog, i mean drive way is dry the trails ( or at least parts of them) shouldn't be that bad except in low areas.

I swung by the park on Kearsarge today. The gate was locked, so I didn't get any farther than the gate house at about 1100 feet. There was patchy snow from 89 all the way up to gate, mostly deteriorating snowbanks, and the view of Kearsarge from Exit 9 dind't show much white up toward the top. Sorry I couldn't go further and get you more information.

From 89 and New London there's still a lot of snow visible in the hardwood forest on Kearsarge, which means even more under the spruces.
So, while the south side may be clearing of snow, the west and north (Barlow and Winslow Trails) still may be snowy and certainly icy. A large icy area persists on the steepest part of the Winslow trail well after the snow goes.

Thank you everyone--the information was very helpful.
Think I'll give it another couple of weeks.

Hiked up Watatic today and still had a fair amount of ice and some snow. Probably 30% coverage.
