Oncoman and I did a 2 day through-hike of Big Range, South Pond, County Line and Eleventh Mtns. (ADK's. Near Speculator) We saw no signs of cannisters, jars, broken branches or trampled ground on any of these very pristine summits. We did see plenty of moose and bear signs.

We camped on South Pond and there we saw very limited signs of our fellow species members. Remains of a fire and several small pieces of styrofoam.

A few pics.

Very nice! :D

Wow,nice wack!

Big Range, S Pond + 11th are on a 770 list I have.Considering the remoteness of many NY 3k's is it common that many have no jars,or perhaps destroyed by weather? BTW I have been fortunate to see the Oncoman signed in to some Maine 3krs. :)

How do you like those Shire's Tarptent ?
Do you mean the yellow one? If so it's just an 8x10 syl-nylon tarp. The green one, a real tent, was Pierre's and it seemingly weighed only 17 grams. He said it was very noisy when windy.

Yeah I was talking about the green one. I'm considering one like this for the usual "make a long detour to avoid PP" backpacking trips :D

Henry Shire's Tarptent, unless it is one of those new Gossamer Gear.

Geat trip report and very good picture. It is always fun to swim in a forest
pond or a stream. Good to see that Oncoman is back from Colorado...
