Trail Conditions: Snow, covered by a very thick crust of ice.
Special Equipment: Microspikes or snowshoes with agressive traction.
Comments: Tried another short hike to a lower mountain (1000 ft summit, over Lk Champlain), hoping to avoid being in the clouds. No luck with that, but unlike the higher elevations where the snow is largely gone and there is alot of mud, it still looks and feels very much like winter here. It seems like there was little or no melting down here. Started with microspikes, but switched to snowshoes. Neither was completely satisfactory, but the snowshoes worked better. VERY slick in spots.
