I expect most folks know this, but if you do park at wildcat, cut over the snowbank at the north end of the Pinkham lot then take a right up to the snowcat garage and follow the cat tracks to the main trail. It saves a few minutes and avoids the "zoo" at the lodge.

BTW, I will confirm that the parking lots to the south of Pinkham are very rough at this point and arent going to hold a lot of cars. Also note that these are "fee" sites that are patrolled, so have you parking pass or a few bucks. Either plan on getting there real early or plan on wldcat (is an extra 15 minutes of walking going to ruin anyones day ? ). The state police frequently make an appearance on nice weekends and the local tow truck drivers are getting hungry, so dont give them an excuse to relocate your car to Gorham by parking along the road. Unless all four wheels are completely off the pavement (which isnt currently possible due to snowbanks), they will tow you.
