Date of Hike: 7/2/2008
Trails: Oliverian Brook, Passaconaway Cut Off, Square Ledge, Square Ledge Branch, Oliverian Brook 8.3 mi r/t.
Conditions: All trails are in good shape considering the storms and rains, except the Sq ledge trail with too many blowdowns to count and thick growth between the top of the ledge and the Pass. Cut Off Trail. Conditions are slippery (slimey rocks and roots) so use caution. Mud patches are to be expected but none requiring major step around. Brook crossings OK. Bugs very bad (and I'm pretty bug tolerant).
Special Equipment Required: Poles help with the slippery roots and rocks. DEET or a high tolerance for mosquitoes and blackfiles.
Comments: 52WAV but views are not as spectacular as from nearby peaks such as Hedgehog and Potash. Good solitude hike - we saw no one all day but there was one car at the trailhead.
