Trail Conditions: Snow covered to depths ranging from packed two feet to powdery six feet or so.
Special Equipment: Snowshoes!
I joined a NH/ME joint trip for this hike. We saw a couple descending without snowshoes, which explained the post holes we had seen. The trail from Star King to Waumbek was very difficult to pick up and stay on as many of the blazes were below the snow line. Saw a pair of gray jays on Star King; had never seen them there before. There were some views but the higher peaks of the Presis were covered. Cold day. Seemed more like early February than the third day of spring
