Trail: Star King Trail
Conditions: Trail in great shape except for two trees down in the section between the two peaks: one to dip under, the other to crawl over.
Special Equipment: Be prepared for bugs
Comments: For us, this was a bail out trip. We had been scheduled to hike Adams, but didn't want to do that in the rain. Two of our group hadn't been to Waumbek before this, so it was a good choice. We only saw one immature gray jay on the summit of Waumbek. (Got a great photo of it with wet feathers sticking out all over on a dead tree, it was a study of grays!) It was fun to see the difference two months can make. When I was up there in March, we couldn't find blazes because of the depth of the snow and the trail between the two peaks was difficult to locate and follow.
