Trail Conditions: Unbroken dry powder. 4-6 inches at trailhead to 1ft+ Few drifts 2ft+
Special Equipment Required: Poles - always handy; snowshoes for breaking trail; full winter gear for 0*F start and wind chill.
Comments: Tried to do my bit for Mats upcoming record attempt. Breaking trail solo is hard work and I ran out of steam when I hit the cold, shady sidehill at 3,000ft and decided to call it a day.
Alternate stepping on the way down to produce a nice track about 10-12" deep. Well, was nice until two guys carrying snowshoes on their packs came up and tore it all to hell. Thanks a bunch.
May all be moot after tommorows storm. Oh well.
