Trail conditions: Excellent, be aware the trail to Pilot Knob Mountain is unofficial. At one time there were orange discs and markers starting at the turnoff from the through trail from Pilot Knob to Lower Hogtown. Those markers for the first .75 mile of trail after the turnoff/bushwack have now been removed. It is easy to follw the trail however in the snow.
Special equipment : Snowshoes or Yaktrax for the relatively steeper parts of the Pilot Knob Mountain trail. Barebooting would be difficult due to ice underneath the snow.
Comments: Nice views from both spots, off the main Buck Mountain/Pilot Knob hiker highway. As previously mentioned there are few markers for the Pilot Knob Mountain trail. The trail is a spur on the right about .5 mile past the turnoff to the left for the main Buck Mountain trail heading out from Pilot Knob.
