Trail Conditions: (Moriah Brook)Muddy, Wet, hard to follow, lots of nice water features
Special Equipment Required: footware for wet conditions
Comments: First time down Moriah Brook Trail. Its a nice shady walk on a hot day, no long views but a lot of interesting terrain features plus numerous pools, gorges and swimming spots along the way. There is also an interesting extensive beaver complex that is now drained. The trail is "maintained to wilderness conditions which means no maintenance, few blazes. It was easy to get turned around at stream crossings, many have old hardened (mostly no longer legal) campsites that are more prominent than the actual trail. We had to go searching a few times for the trail and there is substantial evidence that we weren't the first. The trail bed is pretty well worn in so if the trailbed starts to disappear, its time to take another look. Definitely a nice one to do on less than ideal day for summiting.
