Went up via LT/AT from south and west to the south summit which is a NE 100. First day of Spring. Other than the snowmobilers stopping at the snack wagon in the parking lot, i was solo all day. Easy lazy approach for first hour then started to rise. It was never difficult at anytime. I kept my snowshoes on due to softening snow...esp for the hike out, but there was a set of bareboots that had gone up and down within days of my ascent. Fire tower at the top affords nice 360' views. I'm fairly skittish on fire towers so i only went up two flights of stairs. the ski area .8miles north was actually less imposing than i thought it would be. A nice loop is possible via AT/LT down to Stratton Pond then south back to road, but i didn't chose this option as i was solo and didn't want to chance less traveled path in this direction...gorgeous day and an almost unsettling lack of wind at the top..it's just shy of a 4000'er. In..in 2.5 hrs, out 1.5. Access in by back roads easier than i thought it would be...sue..ctsparrow
