Herd path is drifted in with fallen leaves making it easy to walk off of in a few spots, but generally in nice condition, free of obstructions, and easy to discern. There are some muddy spots but a careful traveller can keep dry feet.
Brook crossing is rock hoppable; poles help. Use care; cold morning temps have rocks glazed with ice. Better to wade than to take an un-planned-for dump, IMO.
I carried teva sandals against the possibility of wading & instep crampons for possible ice problems higher up; neither came out of the pack.
Just a nice mellow day in the autumn woods.
