Just read 1SlowHiker's post about Abe/Spaulding/Sugarloaf. We plan to start this traverse at the AT crossing on Barnjum Road, tag Abraham, then Spaulding and the plan was to head down to CVR but we are looking at tagging Sugarloaf and going down that way but not via the slopes. We'd like to go the route that winds up at the country club (where they serve beer btw).

peakbagger mentioned another Sugarloaf route in the posting - does anyone know of this route and more importantly, how to access it from the summit of Sugarloaf? The whole traverse looks to be about 12 miles and 4000+ elevation gain doing it this way.

Also, should weather fail us, we would consider doing Abraham separately via Fire Wardens trail but I see reports of bridges being out and having to wade across. I see one trip report where river crossing was knee deep, which we can do but would appreciate an update as to how doable it is should we get anothe wet week like last week.

I got a message back and the very reliable source is not aware of the any new trail in this area. Bummer as it would be a nice option.

There was extensive cutting on the south side of Sugarloaf at one point and a lot of seasonal access roads were built but I expect that are grown in with berries by now.

best access from the country club to the top, is the trail under the west side chair, I've taken before it's relatively quick and easy...
