swimming with dogs in catskills and adks

wondering about swimming with dogs in north south lake in catskills and at heart lake in ADKS. our favorite summer thing to do is hike and then swim. obviously places with lifeguards and roped in areas are not appropriate. looking for places with nice rock outcroppings in the sun that are not too populated. we are blessed here in harriman park with numerous great swim spots. any info re good swimming lakes in adks or cats welcome...thanks
