Trail Conditions: Very wet! There is still a firm base, allowing for bare-booting up to the foot of Tabletop, but I wore snowshoes the entire time and would recommend that to others. Constant rain is raising the tributaries, so be prepared for some stream fording that is a little intense. Patches of ice are existent throughout the trail. On the trail to Tabletop itself there were several sink holes full of water. WARNING: If the wet slush freezes, there will be LOTS of ice on the trail, the entire way from the ADK Loj to far beyond Marcy Dam.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes necessary in higher altitudes. Rain gear a must. Crampons not needed, but micro-spikes might be helpful in lower altitudes. WARNING: If the wet slush freezes, there will be LOTS of ice on the trail, the entire way from the ADK Loj to far beyond Marcy Dam.
Comments: Be prepared for wetness if the temps are warm, and lots of ice if the temps are cold. Also, there are still NO trail markers up Tabletop (minus the two at the beginning of the trail). But the trail is easily followed, and pretty well maintained.
