Good Luck to the intrepid 25 hikers and/or trail-runners that are doing the Taconic Crest End to End hike on Saturday. It's 29 miles from Berry Pond in Massachusetts to Vermont.
I was up on a couple of miles of the Crest trail last Friday (the stretch that runs from Mattison Hollow south) and the trail was in good shape. The Spring flowers blanketed the trail - We saw loads of spring beauties, trillium, dutchman's breeches, Canada mayflower, blue cohosh, wild oats, blue violets, and trout lilies. Not that you'll have much time to "stop and smell the flowers" if you want to finish it before dusk!
