Trail Conditions: Somewhat packed out with 2-4 inches powder snow..more as we climbed higher. Perfect snowshoe conditions. Snow laden branches are starting to cramp the trail above 3500 feet.
Special Equipment: Barebootable though MSR's were the way to go today..Poles for the ascent..goretex along the ridge as the wind picked up and the storm rolled in.
Comments: Nice way to start off the New Year..Opted for close to home after listening to forecast and this proved wise. The trail conditions were snowy and perfect.. Not much in the way of views from the top today but the beauty of the snow filled woods was spellbinding.. Met up with Hikrgrl and Madison..hey..we have your camera,..and a couple who were climbing up on skis to go down the ski slope.. Nice winter hike with Quincy girl
