Trail had alternating stretches of ice and bare ground/rocks until about 3000', then mostly ice and hard frozen slush. Cover improved a bit toward the summit (I took upper Sosman) but was still largely ice. Crossings were fine, with low water. A couple of blowdowns, one a major walkaround.
I wore Microspike ST's for the entire hike. Glad they were sharp!
Nice day but with somewhat tedious going. I encountered one other enthusiastic and ambitious hiker who had done the Hancocks earlier in the day (and said M/spikes were OK for that, too). 36th year of winter NH 4K ascents since finishing them on Tecumseh in 1975
