The 2007 North Face Mountain 25 has been redesigned. The new version center poles do not meet in the middle like the previous design. Still described as being a Geodesic design, I don't think it is, certainly not as geodesic as a tent like the VE-25 or even one with an over-lapped pole design like the EMS Headwall.
What does all this add up to ? I'm not sure. I do like the snow flaps on the vestibule of the new Mountain 25. I'm looking for a real mountaineering tent and nearly purchased the old Mountain 25. I prefer double walls, but understand there are many single wall fans out there.
If anyone knows what's behind the design change at North Face, I'd be happy to hear about it.
