havent been to the garden trailhead in about 6 years. I have been there maybe 3 times and everytime I found a parking spot at 6 am.
with the increase in hikers, do you think a spot will still be available at this time.

Depends...

...on what day of the week, what month of the year, holiday vs. non-holiday (don't forget the Canadian holidays!), weather conditions, etc. You get the point. Earlier in the day is always better.

Thursday or Friday shouldn't be a problem.
I have only been skunked once on a non-saturday, and that was pretty late (10pm) on a Friday night on a perfect fall foliage weekend.
