How is the route between The Perch shelter and Mt. Jefferson this time of year? I went through there once years ago and remember it being fairly windswept. This was only one time though, so with all the new snow falling, I'm wondering if the col will be filled with snow this Sat.

I wouldnt worry too much about the col, as much as the slide on the gulfside trail just past the col on Jefferson. My brother and I have been able to circumvent that by heading out of the col via the cornice trail and then heading up a shallow and wide gully on the left that brings you up to the plateau above.

been on that a few times in winter (grey knob trail to randolph)- one time with blacklab2020!

It can fill in and be deep snow or be windswept and rocky/icy - who knows this weekend - I would guess deep snow. One year 2001-2002? - I recall crossing a pretty steep snow section where it almost looked like an avy chute, but don't ever recall seeing that again

You would think it would get lots of traffic, but I have probably been in 3 or 4 times in winter and I recall it being devoid of traffic.

Actually we were there in early January this year and that "avy chute" was a few inches of snow covering a nice steep ice sheet. I expect it has filled in by now, though.

Guy: I found that spot we turned around at, due to poor visibility (on the Way down this year). The peak was way left of where we thought it was in those conditions! We were right on the trail though.

Hmmm, if it looks anything like your second photo, I may have to find another place to hike this weekend.
