Friday left early with adirobdack46r for coreys road. After arriving checking gear and signing in we are off. A nice day weather wise, clear, sunny and does the rest matter, we are on the trail. Headed for Ward Brook lean-too we pass blueberry lean-too which is being used. After 2 hours we arrive at Ward Brook and take the tent spot just off the right side. Set up and off to seymour. After hitting the turn following the brook back and forth a few times thru some wet, muddy spots. Now the trail turns steeper and wet on the flat rocks. These are a scramble that can be dangerous with one false move. This being my first of the year, I can feel the burn from the climb. Adirobdack46r is ahead of me most of the day. Its warm and now at 3500' the black flies seem to be biting more. Finally the summit and we take a few pictures. We walk out to a clearing and wow.... Now i can see long Lake to my right, Duck Hole to my left. One of the niceest views. Of course the bugs become to much and off we go to the other side and a great view of ampersand lake. Got a few more pictures and head back to camp due to the biting, swarming flies... On the way down we took our time due to the steepness and wetness. This is where we ran into a couple groups headed up staying at the ward brook lean-too, blueberry lean-too and beyond. Back to camp around 4pm and climb into the tents and take a rest from the bugs and the steep climb.Day 2: Starts much of the same, out on the trail at 8:30am we head for seward the traditional way. Up the brook this trail seems to be little less steep. I really liked this trail but not more than my partner did when we go to the rocks..Robert just loves this rock scramble.. After a few minutes he has put some distance between us. There are a few peeks out as we accend to the top. Finally seward is accomplished..Again we only spen few minutes there due to the bugs. Behind us we hear the two guys that are staying at the lean-too, but just as they arrive we are on our way. The descent to donaldson is not so bad. Its refreshing as not to be climbing. Take a break under cover where the bugs seem not so bad. Finally we hit the tee and yet another breather and see our friends behind us. Now we are close so off we go and summitt donaldson, pictures and off we go to stop on the way back if the bugs will allow us to. After going thru some muddy spots we are there, emmons.. The end of the line..While enjoying out time, our friends arrive and spend a moment on top. One of them now only need 2 to finish his 46.
Also congratulated a hiker as we heard he was finishing that day on emmons, we saw him on our way down to donaldson.Traversing back to the tee and out of go we decide to go down the calkins brook. Its the long way around but safety is number one.I'm too tired to climb seward again and decend those rocks. Its a nice trail down to the horse trail and we flat foot it back to the camp. The other guys had left there packs and the trailhead as they are leaving after and are coming back down the same way. As we pass the turn to seward we still see there packs there. they must have been ok cause we didn't see there packs there Sunday when we left. After many miles up, down and flat its been a great weekend. On our way out we ran into Coldriverbob, hes headed to ward brook for the night and to Duck hole the next day to set up camp he says. Finally back to the car I mention the thought of pizza in tupper lake, and that we did...great holiday weekend...and 4 peaks down..success..thanks Robert for your company.

That is exactly how I did this trip with ADKDREMN and SETH. Makes for a long day but like you I did not want to climb back over Seward :D

How long did it take you guys to do the TRIO? I think it took us 14 hours

The reason it took me so long was because I forgot to change my socks or I was just lazy and I got blisters really bad. I know the hike out from Ward Brook to the car really sucked

So where are the pics?
