The Lincoln Public Library has developed an imaginative program to combine reading with exercise -- The Storybook Trail:
On the Lincoln Bike Path, starting near the bridge to the Loon ski area and ending just before the Common Man restaurant, they display a book on posters like this:
On July 30 the book was Thumbelina, on August 18 it was Rapunzel and the Seven Dwarfs.
I find the concept intriguing, but am not too sure of its practical value ... I saw no little children reading the posters on either of two walks along the bike path.
Some photos here.
Reading a book is often like taking an imaginary journey.
But what happens when you combine it with a real journey outside
That's the idea behind our Storybook Trail Program: to positively impact family health by combining a fun outdoor activity with the love of reading.
