ApexAl, Anita FR, HikerDoc and I did these 3 peaks (actually 5 peaks total, since it was out-and-back) yesterday in single-digit temps. YP trail and KR trails were sort of broken out by a skier as far as the summit of North Weeks, but not much help for us snowshoers.
After that it was trail-finding and breaking 3-4 inches of powder; good grip underneath. The KR is not the most well-blazed trail I have ever been on, but fortunately is blazed in yellow (not white) so the blazes show up fairly well.
Left the TH at 8:48, back at the cars at 5:20 (no headlamps needed!) 12 miles, 4000' elevation, 2 NE 100 highest and 1 NH 100 highest peaks made for a good day's work.
Al and I attempted East Terrace, but that part of the KR trail was unbroken and extremely poorly blazed. After following the obvious treadway for 0.25 mi, and seeing exactly 1 blaze, we considering 'whacking the peak, but as it was 4:05, decided against it. On the way out we did find half a dozen blazes for the southbound hiker.
