Nov 11: Zealand Trail, Twinway trail, Bondcliff trail, to: Zeacliff, Guyot campsite, Mt Bond and Bondcliff, back to Guyot campsite.
Nov 12: Bondcliff trail, Twinway trail, Zealand trail, to: West Bond, Zeacliff, Zealand trailhead
Trail Conditions:
Day 1; Zealand road had spots of hard packed snow and ice. Combination of thinly packed snow, spots of ice, and dry on Zealand and Twinway trails. Slush going up North side Bond, Ice going down South side of Bond, mostly dry on Bondcliffs.
Bondcliff trail north side of Guyot has some deeper snow 6-12” just off trail actually a few deep postholes on the trail.
Day2: Thinly packed snow on West Bond spurs(but that was before sunrise). As the day went on there was less and less snow and ice than the day before. Lower section of Zealand now all dry. Zealand road was now dry.
Special equipment: Micro spikes helpful on parts of trails both days but had to put on and take off a lot. Bare boots with caution would have been okay. No signs of snowshoe use anywhere yet. Four wheel drive helpful on Zealand road Sunday but it was dry Monday. Trekking poles helpful – especially on short icy section when spikes where off.
Comments: Water is off at the Hut but the pump well is working. Spring water running at the campsite but I wouldn’t drink it without boiling. An extreme fast hiker passing though (Brian? ) had no hesitation in filling his camel back though. Two great pre winter days to pick up these 3 harder to get 4ks
