Snowshoes needed to prevent postholing even early after a short ways up the trail, and even then one must keep feet on the monotrail, or get well off it alltogether. Today the monotrail held me up, and the result was an easy hike in beautiful weather with wonderful views. Stream crossings mostly open and best done with snowshoes off. The trail clearly softened as the day went on, and it appeared some bare booters were on the trail, so conditions may not be so good tomorrow.
